Stop steamrolling yourself

Steamrolling yourself means using your own ambition as a blunt instrument: dismissing tiredness, overriding doubt and treating every pause as weakness. Dan and Tom explore the difference between useful discipline and repeatedly ignoring the information your mind and body are giving you.

They argue for a kinder form of momentum that still asks for action but changes the size, timing or method when necessary.

The useful bits

What to take with you

  • Constant internal pressure can reduce the quality of the work it is meant to protect.
  • Rest, resistance and fear are different signals and need different responses.
  • Reduce the next action instead of turning a difficult day into total abandonment.
  • Speak to yourself in a way that leaves enough energy to continue.

Tom1:17

So like have I ever mentioned that like I'm a drummer I don't even know but yeah that's why I've got a fancier background for this week and this week only so um although I think last year yes because I'm like oh the drums are looking pretty good for this pink light so I was like I'll put that in the background this week but usually I have a plain background or something because usually I'm against this wall we have.

Dan1:40

This like green screen thing but um but yeah it is what it is so hot take and go I don't have a hot take I've got hot justice but not a hot take oh hot Justice then are you wanting to share the heart Justice or not it's still raw okay so maybe maybe we'll hold off the rawness but I'll let you I'll let you say whether you want to or or not want to I'm not going to force you I.

Tom2:07

Don't know I don't want to but it probably is worth sharing to all those people out there to some degree so yesterday I got scammed boom boom boom basically I guess it's a combination of I guess this this topic is trust you get and don't steamroll yourself yes so it was I was trying to sell something on Facebook Marketplace as you do someone was interested in buying maybe I should step by step walk through what my gut is.

Dan2:43

Feeling and then what I actually do and also bring the energy of like what what do you want out of this you don't want anybody to say haha I told you so you only want empathy no criticism just empathy action yeah yeah I don't need any answers I don't need to be told anything except for no no that happened advice is not welcome right now do not comment your thoughts yeah if you have a comment email to print this out and then yeah.

Tom3:18

Shut the door.com yeah so so basically I was trying to sell someone on Facebook they were well I just moved my desk they were wanting to get a courier to pick up a product for starters the fact that someone didn't try and negotiate a lower price that you always anticipate with these Facebook Market um demands because they're okay with the price alarm Bell number one I was like okay I've clearly got trust issues but I also need the money because I want.

Dan3:59

To reinvest into new kit for my studio that I'm slowly building out so ignore number one steamroll part one to continue into handing over details for The Courier okay this person needs to pick it up that makes sense I noticed it was like phone number and email I was like that's a bit weird I'll hand over my work email rather than my personal because I think it's got more thanks for that yeah more protection because I could always.

Tom4:31

Delete it and then start again and then access that one isn't things no worries think of others flag number two foreign number two you should always have a burner phone I didn't have that side put my own number on um so that red flag number two rolled over that then it was like this Courier is this sister this this company I've never heard of but I didn't search it and there was like a website to it and a.

Dan5:03

Couple of things but it didn't quite make sense the company I think I'm pretty sure was a courier service that is like yeah I think the Courier Service was correct oh it might drop um yeah anyway this person was basically saying The Courier will pick up the product and give you cash um of the amount so I was like cool I'm happy with that that doesn't bother me the ball's into his court but then he changed it to be like.

Tom5:38

You have to do a card payment to pay like the insurance of like to look after the journey and I was like that that doesn't make no sense like yeah you should probably do that every time so again red flag I was like this bit weird so then I was messaging to be like um so it's a caveat this this was an afternoon that clearly my brain wasn't working as much as it should do and it was seeing the shiny.

Dan6:07

Money sign in my brain of a quick sale um a quick sale isn't always a good sale but that's the next episode quick that'll be your quote of the day a quick sale isn't always a good sale yeah it's a long it's a long counseling session a quick sale pays its value in counseling yeah um so basically he was like you just need to pay this thing and you'll get the cash value so I was like okay that's.

Tom6:42

Not that's not crazy but that's just strange and this is the thing is my hard line that I can tell you now I steamrolled like spoiler my Hardline was I'm not gonna pay anything until this cash in my hand so if I have to pay more than the value of the item that I'm trying to sell I need cash in my hand but then so 100 pounds cool so right now we're at 50 you're like cool I'm gonna make 100 on the on the.

Dan7:12

Back of it and get the 50 back kind of thing right yeah so then you're like okay the guy's not huggled down like it's it's I think in my brain it's like it I'm willing to lose that to some extent and I'm going for the journey so then I had an email from a career thing to be like you'll get given 145 cash just click on this link and pay wait wait so they've even taken five pounds off you because you've you've paid 50.

Tom7:43

Right and they're one in 50. well well this this is the thing is I clicked on the link so they said 145. I clicked on the link it said it was 41.31. so I said to the guy dude you need a contact you need to contact the guy to be like change it to so I'm not losing a penny so I I was accurate on that thing cool I'm fine with that but really I've passed the line I'm over.

Dan8:11

Like I can't even see the line anymore but anyway well let's not talk about that um sorry I recognized there was still some lines that I still had barriers um I stupidly did the payment of this 51 pounds but to add to to lower the risk value right now I do use companies I use my credit card because I know that it's safer than cash it's not linked to taking cash out of my account and I know I can freeze my card and I.

Tom8:49

Could always say it's fraud and sort of back pedal that way so there was a as much as I stepped over the line I still had barriers that people can't take two thousand three thousand five thousand whatever take advantage not like I've got any of those amounts in my account but it's like the small rope for yet to hang yourself with not too much it's probably not a great analogy but anyway um it's like there's not much for you to.

Dan9:21

Run with like you've got 50 Quid cool that's like enough of it like for a coat or something it's not like your house or whatever that could be way worse but then when I did the the purchase or whatever um I was like cool this is all done now so then I had an so again I had a Facebook message from this guy to be like you took too long the code has run out because he was like tell me the code.

Tom9:50

Once it's done so I was like cool this is the code for The Courier whatever um so then he was like the time limits run out and I was like so I've paid for something that the time limit is literally run out within like five minutes if that so then he sent me another link that was different than the first link so this was when it's like another alarm Bells so I was like okay then I'm I'm gonna poke now this is like.

This guy is he's using the word trust me way too much for a stranger on Facebook Marketplace to the point there's like he's trying to push me into a cult that like my alarm bells are like yeah yeah wear these robes and not hold this paddle but we're not a cult but not a club the stone cut is like The Simpsons yeah basically so then I'm so then I was like let me have my money back and then I'll.

Have a look at another payment thinking that's my line now like I've already I've already gone a step too far I'm I'm gonna backpedal a bit so then the guy was like no no do the payment like you need to do it now so I was like okay give me the phone number of the company that your so-called contact in and then I could contact them they're only online here's the here's the here's the email address call on bells I emailed them I.

Also researched the company and found out there was a different email address so I was like cool I'm just going to email it and what was the email address it was the end of the email address gmail.com again because it's more of a personal account but it was like a business starting point yeah so it's like okay this is interesting so then I basically emailed to basically like this feels like a scam can I have confirmation that you sent the money.

Back person ignored it and was like you need to now do this uh you need to top up your money so it covers 190 pounds that you'll get cash through the Courier I'm like why do you need why do I need to top it up another 40 quid for you to give me another thought he could cash I'm like this is weird like alarm Bells yeah alarm Bells so then I messaged back to be like um I'm not gonna do that like basically.

Why didn't you answer my question and the dude so this is the company for the radio listeners [Laughter] as you can hear going through the air right then is like the weird thing is is he was like the company's just emailed you I'm like how do you know that the company's emailed me either you work either you're on the phone with this so-called company this Johnny dude has literally just gone second tab yeah so then I was like.

That's weird the fact that he knows that they're emailing me it's like no this is not on now like I've gone down a hole I've like tripped up I've twisted my ankle but I'm not gonna fall in the next ditch Vibe like I'm recovering from this like so-called scam um uh so basically he was like you need to use this Top-Up link and I was like why didn't you answer my last question so this so-called company message me I feel like I can vote this.

It was like basically why are you trying to be a hard man um why are you trying to be a hard man um I could do stuff like I could do legal action or something out of the blue that I'm there going I've paid you money to pick up an item that I own for you to buy off me I'm gonna forgive me business so for a bit of context like my anxiety shot through the roof only because of.

Past experience someone threatened or multiple people threatened in a previous role to sue me even though I did everything by the book but it was because they basically felt like they weren't treated um correctly and my guilt what was that I was just gonna say have you ever been so we should segue into this after this death threats this is going to be the title of this video is going to be alarm Bells threats death threats yeah yeah.

Sorry I felt it but I've not not been told if that makes sense yeah yeah this is predominantly just like we're going to see you this guy's like why are you being a big man so basically when a company is saying why are you being a big man when you're asking for Gary gmail.com I literally was like I'm backing the hell out of this I don't have a clue what's happening so I blocked the guy off Facebook said he's a.

Spammer block the email and then call Dan and went for a walk to to regulate because this is why rig a ring let's be honest so I'll be honest with that I have heard par I've heard most of the story so that's why it's okay for me to laugh this time because sometimes out a few times so it's not as if like how insensitive of me to be laughing at this deep story so yeah but laughter is a is a good.

Mansion it gets you out the emotions for sure yeah so to caveat like not only as I'm anxious because they use the word like legal stuff that is triggering from a past experience I think what was difficult as well is the trying to process the the frustration of feeling like an idiot for getting took advantage of yeah yeah and I recognize it's like I like to take care of my resources and finances and I felt like I was.

An honorable by slipping up even though what I was trying to do is be a good Steward by trying to sell some stuff to then input into the the study to make more money to invest into my family for them to be more safe more secure and just a happier lifestyle so that was the thought process the application was a steamrolling red flag situation which is like cool so then basically today I've had the joys of um sending the details to the company.

I've um paid the money towards so what happened is I understand it a little bit more now because I've done a bit more digging with a bit more straight ahead is they sent me a payment link towards what I think is like a voucher website um but they they they sent the email from so-called company but then the link took me straight to the payment site because when I contact the company today to be like I've just got scammed.

Basically through your system they were like well it's all over the website we can't do anything about it but we'll try our best and I'm like well it wasn't all over the website because they clearly bypassed that and hyperlinked further down the trail which sometimes websites look different when you take a card payment that that looks fine basically um but anyway by the buy so then I basically froze my card ordered a new one credit card um and then told HSBC to not like.

There's all other Banks out there um but basically told them to to cancel the payment or do whatever they can to cancel it and then I basically sent a message to um uh the police basically saying it's fraud here's the name here's the email just in case so they've got like tabs of of what's going on just in case they can find the person or if they hear about it again that they know to take it seriously and I don't have High Hopes.

From that point of view it was more from a I'm gonna do the procedure that might make me feel better for doing it but more so that hopefully it will clock it if it happens again or whatever at least it's on the books that someone's warned them about it basically yeah so my Red Rage of Fury has been High the last 24 four hours it's difficult isn't it because I think um there's always that voice that's inside you to be like.

Are you sure like and usually you wouldn't get caught out but tiredness afternoon slump whatever it is like efficiency of wanting to complete a task meaning that you're like cutting the corners on due diligence that you typically do or like oh no it'll be fine like um Good Intentions right um can all be slip UPS which I completely get the absolute infuriation with something like this because it's the freaking worst and then yeah because you're like the good intentions guy it's.

Kind of like hey you were known for never swearing and now you've just sworn hang on a minute like kind of thing it's like the identity of like a not goody two shoes but um someone that's you know got things together and then that person slips up and it's not necessarily for the public eye it's more so for the for the person themselves right as in like you feel bad and that's without even speaking to anybody to say hey this.

Thing happened you know yeah it's like because then you just feel super guilty like embarrassed of sharing it because it feels like you just handed over your bank details to someone even though you I didn't it sort of feels like you might you might as well have um because I nearly fell for it like six months ago only because I was in conversations with my bank trying to sort something out and then I can't remember if it was a text or an.

Email from that bank that I was trying to sort stuff out so then I but then they're asking for my car details and I was like okay alarm Bells I'm not doing that I'll come oh right during my own time randomly like a side yeah randomly collided with you or sorting something out with a bank yeah this random message okay normally timely yeah normally it would always be a bank that I'm not with and that's why I'm like I don't.

Understand how fraud happens because it's so shotgun in the sense of saying oh this Bank well I'm not with that bank so for me it's obvious yeah but then being so close with like okay that was my bank and I was in that situation to then actually this was a very clever deploy all around of a pressure cooker situation that I just got caught out with because I wasn't anticipating it it sort of I don't know it's sort of.

Made me understand live it out but then I I guess just feel the emotions that someone would have when someone's got one over them and sort of tricked them if it's into a relationship or for money or whatever I have a an aftertaste of what that feels because even like um like our parents like mum was like yeah it can happen to anyone people have lost more money but worst case scenario if that if that like 50 Quid that like you need we can reimburse.

It but it's one of those things that the weird thing with the emotion and the emotional journey of it is even if I got the money back it's more your trust is broken my perfectionism of having good processes in place and living by processes to make your life better is sort of that's been shattered yeah I need to rebuild myself and need a build sort of tougher I guess processes in some areas but I just find it funny because I I was.

Saying to my like mum today that garyvee basically says trust people until they let you down I'm more of the ilk of trust no one and they'll trust so the one time that I'm like maybe I should do it Gary's way he's um mega minted and but I guess it's probably in a different situation because it's obviously like maybe working with someone and you're more rather than messaging but anyway it's funny how you take a snippet of information out of context most likely.

You apply it to life and then you get screwed but then you can't blame the person out of context because there's probably more context to it because at the end of the day I don't know like garyvee I've not chatted to him and I don't know where that's come from um but it's just one small bit of advice but yeah so and I think it with all this stuff it's about like cool so steamroll you got that's that would be the thing.

Yeah exactly and um I think um of course this is like the worst case scenario with a a con type thing but with any decision that you make that you feel uncomfortable about and why you feel uncomfortable about it I've had times when people are trying to persuade you onto some course and like the emotional manipulation I'm literally on a call with some guy that's speaking to me about like so you work late nights are you not what are you wanting to work.

Late nights for the rest of your life um and you'd rather work late nights for the rest of your life rather than pay um as 10 grand to take this course which will make you a hundred grand or like whatever it is right and then you're like emotionally suckered into whatever it is or a like social engineering right of this situation of like oh hey come over here and they confuse you by sending you multiple links I'm like no.

It's gonna be now and like just disorientate you so you don't really know what's going on and I think it's um it's so annoying when it happens and ultimately if you're in this situation and you want to tell somebody basically you need to tell the person you're about to tell like hey I'm going to tell you something that I've done and I do not want to be told oh why did you do that or like oh you idiot whatever you don't want any of.

That stuff I just want pure empathy because it can happen to the best of us which it does like it always happens to people um because even now the government have said so January is a time when people are um put in their personal tax um self-assessment assessment stuff so the government like hey there's a bunch of scams going around right now with the self-assessment stuff to be like click here to pay yourself assessment tax bill and all that so yeah you have to be like.

On guard and I think it's about like incredibly like yeah like like really emphasizing the the gut instinct because a lot of the time what's the what's the bad thing of like trusting your gut in that situation it means you don't sell the Wardrobe cool someone else will come and buy it so it's it's kind of like training yourself to to trust you go and and not um I I guess it's kind of like not just have it on your shoulders that they say.

That um you know when you're talking about job interviews and negotiations um they say sometimes some of the best thing to do is like I'll have to talk with my partner about it because then they realize oh they can't just convince you as the new employee that's about to turn up um or like a salary kind of negotiation it's not that I'm having to convince you I'm gonna have to convince the family your like partner or your or your.

Somebody you're speaking with and that becomes much harder um so I think it's it's good to like vet and and check things out um but yeah like trusting your gut is an important factor and we're not always going to get it right so you do the 24-hour rule right um I'm not sure if it's in sport is it in football they do the 24-hour rule where it's like you can literally be like super sad for 24 hours but after.

That like back on to be like cool I'm over it like move on um I think that's like when you lose a game I think it is more so because I recognize obviously to be like right move on you're not allowed to speak about it would be it'd be too quick for some people right and and probably you know a little bit unfair for some people that again as you said match the trauma from past situations and and stuff.

But yeah it was a it was a perfect storm because I had also sad news earlier on from a sort of a friend situation so I think it was I had a productive morning which then made meant that I was tired but it bit maybe emotional yeah there's some sad news to then being rushed into a situation as if you're getting brushed off your feet um to then me trying to slam on the brakes for them people to.

Basically trying to throw [ __ ] at your face to some extent um but yeah so and I think after that like the hot Rage of Fury not hot take and I think after that you have to literally change your environment to get out of the like the stench associated with your computer it's just happened to you or you've just been on that phone call or you've been in a particular room or whatever it is that you just have to like get out right.

And change this scenario and mix it up but I I hate the whole like I'm gonna sue you thing it's such an American Vibe right um so it's weird when like Brits be like Oh I'm gonna sue you I remember one time like in a therapeutic way comment your scam stories as a like a therapy thing um to realize that we all have like hiccups I remember them like I I would say I'm gonna generalize here and I'm I.

Think I'm basically not gonna caveat Builders Builders scam artists I'm gonna I'm gonna try not to caveat this my experiences with Builders has been bad two out of three experiences but and they're always like oh my lawyer is going to speak to you or whatever or it's like oh well I'll tell the tax man that um you're not paying that I'm like that's not my fault or or not paying tax I'm like that's not my fault you need to.

If I'm paying you in cash you need to tell the tax man that you're getting that cash you know like all these Builders use that like legal thing to like one-up you or whatever and it's not that I'm Con in the builders is that one the Builder was bad and two the Builder like a roof fell in and I withheld money what's wrong with that like you did the roof bit fell in I'm not gonna pay you money and then he's like oh I'm gonna.

Tell you you pay the builders in cash I'm like go for it you're the one that has you're the one that has to tell the tax man that you had this amount of money in cash and that SpaceX so it's just funny how people use these manipulation tactics to put you on the back foot to make you kind of break down and for them to get what they want and I've realized through this you're doing like rock paper scissors and someone.

Like brings out fire here and you're like that's not part of the game like you've lost they're like no I haven't and you're like but but it's like it works for some people right because if I was like flaming my arms and getting angry you might just see the visual representation of me looking angry and flailing in my arms and you might be like I'm at risk from uh being hit or being hurt or my safety's a good.

Question or my family's safety or someone can break a wing or whatever whatever so you're then likely to be like cool you want to if you don't like confrontation you're going to try the quickest route to resolve it and that could be like paying somebody to get out the way or whatever or like yeah cool okay I'll give you the money but that's not always the best thing and I think again use a second person so if it's.

Happening to you be like use a second person to be like well I'll speak to my friend and we'll work out or whatever it is but yeah it's it's it's the worst and I've had really maybe moments when you've been like actually a door stop should be a more scaremongering by knocking on doors with baseball bats to be like sign up I thought you were gonna say don't be a dollar stop is basically it's going to turn into a podcast where you tell us.

The scams that you've experienced and we and we tell you like don't be a door stop next time trust your gut and speak to a friend in a way that then you don't become a victim of some scam artist or like basically caught up into in some person um kind of like emotionally manipulating you into doing something for their benefit um but again I think when personal safety comes into question of course you're going to do something to like.

Make yourself safe aren't you or whatever yeah and that's where death threats come in I was going to finish off with my uh my previous being sued okay situation so previously I was working in a charity that was helping so basically supporting people in supported housing so it's people that either been homeless or or were as about to be put in houses we come alongside them to encourage them to do the cleaning had a budget had a cook advise on that front.

And check how they're doing but then we work with other agencies that deal with like maybe a mental health that they need or extra support and it's cross yeah across different agencies that work together I remember working with a guy that was a low need he owed the charity like two to three grand because he was basically it was like snakes and ladders of him paying rent so he was paid double one month then nothing for three months then one.

Then half then nothing and it was a bit haphazard so then I so when we had to do calls we had to write down everything that we talked about at least the main points so then I basically said right you're gonna get kicked out unless you resolve this so you need to pay your rent consistently moving forward on top of and instead of plucking a number up there yeah I worked with him with his budget to make sure he.

Can afford it and it's like 100 200 pounds a month that was in his budget with whatever he money he got from the government which actually a lot of those tenants were earning more than me but that was a that's a weird situation anyway that you're helping people that are in a way way better off in in some ways it's a very strange situation to be in that you feel like they should be worse off than you but I guess they are mentally and.

Emotionally yeah um but anyway the guy basically did the first payment obviously so it looks good on paper follow month didn't pay I think the following month didn't pay the extra so I was like dude you're gonna get kicked out and he basically went effing and blind and then was like I'm gonna sue you and da da da da da and there's like proper going at me so I was like cool I put the phone down and then.

Like annoyingly I had to call him I think it was twice a week particularly through covert just to make sure they're doing all right and this is a guy with with a um not the best backgrounds let's just say that um because he's dealt with yeah crying before so it's just an interesting thing because it I don't think I realized the the Panic of have I written the correct notes or enough notes on the situation um and the guilt of have I pushed him in.

The corner that you go into when someone's basically yelling at you to some extent and like challenging you but then when you take a step back you're like I did everything by the book I didn't push him into the corner you did do loads of processes pre-hand of like I didn't go right after pay 500 a month that was unachievable so you're naturally gonna fail so you can't even throw that in my face it's like I've literally got on paper you committing to.

It and then on a different paper which is our bank balance you're not paying it so you're literally in the wrong you're gonna get kicked out so on an emotional level here's like um if you've ever listened or um read the chimp Paradox I think it's called um basically his chimp mode his lizard brain as some people call it or his emotional side or whatever you want to call it um goes crazy because he basically feels like he's gonna get attacked by his a.

Lion because his home is a safe place and I'm gun enough to safe place but really I'm trying to create that safe place to be even a better fortified safe place because he's paying rent yeah because he doesn't realize that you still have to live with consequences as much as your um like not got a job and then support housing it doesn't mean that you can't live life without consequences that I think some of the tenants got away with that.

Over time but as time was going on when I joined onwards we were like right we're setting them up to fail in life because if they actually got a proper house and if they actually got a proper job they're gonna fail because we're holding them to lower standards so actually holding themselves is worth it so yeah so that was my um getting sued and that was difficult because that was during lockdown we're in North Wales so we went in a.

Local lockdown and me and my wife moved to a and you're only allowed to socialize with people in the in the same county and we moved to two counties over from a lot of people a lot of our friends and family that we knew so we were isolated to some extent of seeing others apart from us so when she would go to work because she had to work in schools when some people um weren't doing so it was a very strange time of you.

Didn't have multiple people to bounce off or you couldn't go bowling or football or whatever to get away from the situation so it felt like you were sat on it for longer I thought one of the strange situations yeah one of your best lines and I think again if you can um I think someone said I've been reading a book about think big I think it's think a big basically um no actually it wasn't think big it was.

Diary of a CEO yeah I think small Diary of CEO the author of the chimparadox book is on it again and he was saying the best way to get you out of a particular mindset is try and trigger yourself to laugh and what I thought is like it doesn't always um necessarily work in the sense of if the person you chatting to is super angry and you're trying to make them laugh that might not work in that sense.

But if you are thinking cranky this guy's gonna sue me and then you try and make yourself laugh by saying cool give me your assistance details I'll send them to the company solicitors as like uh let's see if you're all talk like sarcasm kind of vibes then you can kind of get out this feeling of it being targeted to you because it changes the whole I'm under attack to be like actually yeah I'm not under attack like I'm confused I could be like yeah.

Diffusing it with a bit of humor a bit of like like laughter so I thought when you suggested that I thought that was a really funny thing like yeah I should have send you send you solicitors details over solicitors details because they're all too early you canceled the caller and I've spoke to him for two weeks it's quite nice yeah yeah like right let's finish on my death threat thing so I've got two death threats but I'll just share the one because the.

Other one's a bit more like sensitive but um thankfully I've I've I'm not here I mean I'm not here as in like they've not happened I am this is yeah I'm a robot and I've actually one podcast I really want to actually get chat gcp to create it because I've already created an AI version of my voice so I can just give it anything and it will basically talk as me so at some point we'll have to do that we'll have to get.

People to to say like whether or not it was me speaking or whether or not it was the AI speaking but back in University I literally had a phone call from an unknown number I answered the phone call and said hello they were like hey is Diego there and I was like no he's like yeah it's Diego there and he was pretty persistent that Diego was there and I was like Diego is not here and then he said like I've got.

Um I've got the package I've got the package and I was like I don't know who Diego is I don't know anything about this package you got the wrong number and then he was like on the like cool he's now realized that I'm not Diego and I don't know Diego he then um is like fine then if you try to call me back I'll kill you and hang up right what do I try and do I try and call back.

The Vietnam number which obviously I can't because it's like a caller withheld or number with health or whatever so then I persisted to call myself Diego through University and that was my story of some some drug lord somewhere is either called Diego or in partnership with Diego and whether or not Diego now is in a lot of trouble because his boss has called him or maybe a worker in the food chain has called him or whatever so who knows but the real Diego there is a.

Real Diego somewhere in Nottingham that's doing um some drugs if you are that person that called Dan and called him Diego you are forgiven I wanted yeah don't tell jokes yeah I was kind of wanting to I'd I hoped that it wasn't a prank call I hoped that it was a real call in the sense of I've like used that Diego story for ages you know when they say hey we're a new group of people like say some interesting fact about yourself and.

I'm like um I once had a death threat or whatever like you know you do the whole story because it's just funny because I wasn't In Harm's Way and I I think at that time I was like thankfully even though I'm not Diego they don't know where I live they might not know they might know where Diego lives but not where I live so I thought off the back of that I was fine but yeah so in the comments put.

Your scam stories your death threat stories and your red flag stories yeah next episode should be how many times have we been to prison man and ultimately this this has still had a message like what's the message trust you got trust your gut don't steamroll yourself in a desperation of task achievement like thing right and also when somebody comes to you with a scam story hug them don't say ah why did you do that because they know they're already.

Beating themselves up um far more than you could ever see so don't join the beating stop yeah and on that note how are those nails not being people.
