Apple's AI Fails? Real Talk on WWDC 2024
Dan and Tom review Apple’s 2024 announcements with equal parts affection and frustration, asking whether Apple Intelligence is genuine invention or careful integration of ideas already elsewhere.
The conversation expands into creator strategy: learning by making one hundred videos, finding content gaps and building a community rather than waiting for a platform announcement to create momentum.
The useful bits
What to take with you
- A product can be valuable through integration even when the underlying idea is not new.
- Judge AI features by the daily friction they remove, not the launch-language surrounding them.
- Creators improve faster through a meaningful volume of published work.
- A community gives content a purpose beyond winning the recommendation algorithm.

The Apple event was utterly disappointing and the reason why I can say that is because one thing I'm notice with the Riverside only recently this notification is PL making sure that your laptop's plugged into the wall to make sure the the recording does high quality so I don't know if that's the processing or whatever that's interesting yeah cuz what I noticed on the last episode no still here hopefully you can hear me yeah what what I noticed on the.
Last episode is that the audio was out of sync with me like some sort of anime thing yeah so I moved back into the house CU I clocked that thinking it must be the garage Wi-Fi is not as powerful so gone back to Route One but no harm in trying yeah makes sense just trying to open my notes so I did my first live stream this week was it this week no last week which was good fun oh yeah and did we actually say that.
We were going to do that on here or was it separate no separately so I think so two two things have happened in the last couple of weeks but maybe we can pause it for the the next time but it's the accountability of the making a video each right so you've done a video I've done a video in hope that we start building our own kind of channels with more bespoke content to specifically what we're interested in doing obviously.
You're going down the 100 videos see what sticks kind of like documentation I'm going down the Ryland sixf figure Academy business entrepreneurship community group um type stuff so yeah it'll be really interesting because chances are things will bleed into both channels right bleed into the door and also here as well yeah that makes sense which I think is is fine again like um funnily enough like a couple weeks back I um looked back at all my old YouTube videos so I I I saw that.
Basically from somebody else's account they were subscribed to my old YouTube account okay which is my city and wool account which is my University one and from from there I looked at old video videos that I did in my third year I think of University and the way that I speak is different the way that I am like my mannerisms or like the dryness or the like low energy kind of stuff like execution of like delivery of information I'm still as succinct as I.
Like to be which is good but just watching those back and I did like 10ish episodes and I've always said from episode zero to episode 10 I've become different like I'm more like hey guys welcome to YouTube you know that whole YouTube energy that you have like video energy that's starting to appear just because I I started so it was really encouraging to to like look back at old videos and see all that stuff and then secondly I started like looking back at.
All like Instagram stuff you know like go right back to the start of time and I'm essentially I've always done design and I've always done drumming so like design SL business and like drumming and it's like forever in your timeline it's kind of like cool that I'm still doing those things they've taken different forms different kind of intent or like levels like now I'm driving for Kim which is kind of cool right before I was just driving for church even though I.
Had a couple of bands here and there but um it's cool how things like Elevate and and get bigger and obviously you know now business and design and stuff like You' have thought that back then I end up designing for Google like that's cool like having Google as a client like that's insane so it's been a lot of fun to look back and a lot of times you you really look back right so did you look back before creating.
Your new chapter video or whatever you want to call it because I guess it's not a video from the start it's sort of recking off sort of like a relaunch or did you look at it afterwards in reflection so I I looked back and then I just started to write notes because I knew I wanted to do a stream I saw an Instagram post about like the quickest way to start making content is just like whack a stream on and then while you're.
Doing the stream just record videos in the Stream So I'm still to go back to the stream because I did I only did it for May maybe an hour and a half or something go back to that stream cut out like shorts for it um to then produce content so then I've done one hour of like sitting still for a couple hours to just bash out a few things and then I at the end of it I did an actual video that.
I wanted a clip for my own channel so I did that so I'm kind of like doing two things once one if there happens to be interaction with the actual uh stream yeah and then second a secondary is it's producing um episodes and shorts alongside it because not everybody is going to be watching your stream at that time specifically in the early days um so I thought that was really really cool to do so yeah I looked back at old.
Videos I also looked back at um I have this like really old document like a Google Drive and also a teachable I think it's called teachable like a teachable course which is the flushings out of my like how to build a sixf figure agency so I'm like oh I did all this stuff but I kind of like parked it I didn't park I kind of just like lost interest probably and had other things that were like more of a priority at the.
Time so I'm essentially Reviving that stuff and being more intentional with it so half of my content for the community is kind of already there um so I'll add a link in the description to my community group which is the sixf figure agency and it's ultimately if you're working 95 and you want to become your own boss to cut you off is is your mic linked up because you're quite quiet because I've noticed that my volume's on max and it isn't as clear as I usually.
Know it but I don't know if it's my settings yeah I'll check so my inputs on that side is good so that's good I'll check in here it's cuz there's like um unless it's just in the post that it'll sound better but oh yeah it's the wrong mic and I can't change it without possibly stopping the recording but I want to change it I need to change it so how about I leave yeah let me try that seeing live live production issues.
With no no um uh with no producer we're live producing currently I'm intrigued to know will Dan jump back into here or will he jump into a different room no he's jumped into here yes it's carried on oh there we go and it's clearer even better oh you know and also it stopped the recording so it started again now that's okay or at least for me so did it stop the recording on your end no it hasn't it's.
Just carried on oh cool so hopefully this will be a full recording where you had bad audio and then much much better audio but yeah essentially just time on that stuff your audio is great now your video is more blurry but hopefully uh I I think it's because my internet connection is catching up probably because it just says I'm 20% uploaded so maybe it's giving you a low a low fire version of it yeah but it will it will.
Improve over time so so um hopefully it'll get better and catch up to itself if not it'll be a classic video where somebody's is either yours or mine is going like wrong but that's why it's good to have it all in the Preamble get it right get the audio right there's too many places to check you have to check your kind of like your Mac audio bits and also then the Riverside audio bits and they happen to be different so yeah.
Because I find it funny sometimes it will do um it will select your system one but I find sometimes I'll change my system to be the sh mic and other times I don't so it's really annoying cuz I'm like I have to double check both sides I find um I was thinking I was like always have S sounds like your airpods mic but you don't have them on you've upgraded your headphones so I was like I wonder if this is your laptop mic it then it is.
My laptop and funnily enough I'm using in ears today cuz I was like even last time I could hear the audio bleed from my airpods because obviously I have my mic to my right hand side rather than in front so um I've even like tried on that end so um yeah this what I should do is feed myself back audio so I can actually hear the quality of my own audio but a lot of the time I don't do that I just.
Do it straight oh don't you speaking and I just hear your audio audio not my my own audio three I do a bit of both because I know I could be doing loud gulps and breaths so it it stops me from doing that I need to move away from the mic we do it lot quiet yeah that makes sense but yeah sweet so before we jump in What what is the this week's topics again so are we doing the what's our thoughts.
About the pumping out our own content See yeah the WWDC and I realized I've actually been saying it wrong it's not WWDC oh no it is WWDC but in Twitter people like hashing WDC 24 but I wasn't so I was like oh no wonder I'm not getting the traction for my crazy opinions yeah so let's do WWDC I want to share about my community and then I've got some like Google Trends like YouTube analytics stuff that I want to share and.
Then maybe we lock it out with um Sid men's inside that I want to give some like Insight on a lot of topics today let's get going then yeah all right I'll do the intro and we'll go straight into the WW I was waiting for you to breathe out I thought you about to talk I held my breath yeah don't be a don't be [Music] a and welcome back to another episode of don't be a do SUB we appreciate you.
Turning up every week or every so often however many times times you turn up to get our episodes uh thanks again for turning up for this one we really appreciate uh allowing ourselves to be in your ears or in your eyeballs depending on if you watch or listen to us today we've got a few topics to to run through one of which is the WDC the Apple event where they showed a bunch of new stuff so Tom did you watch the Apple.
Event I watched the second half of it live and then I watched the first half of it this morning to watch it before going into the Pod so I know what we talking about so yes okay so you can you can riddle off you can riddle off what you thought about it what's your hot take um it's quite hard to tell because it it sort of it feels like apple have held off so many manyi changes for years like.
Having your app anywhere on the page to having the iPad have the calculator it feels like they've held off that for years just to then give it you to then the people that have been dying for those small changes are like in awe of Apple when actually I was actually probably a bit disappointed that I thought they were going to bring their aame rather than uh they brought some Snippets actually their main development was in the Siri element which I thought.
It was cool having it around the edges I must admit but the fact that that's not even coming out yet and it's only coming out for the new phones completely new phones and iPads and stuff so it's forcing everyone to upgrade and and actually it's got a element that it can push it to tra GPT so it's not even all integrated so what I thought could have been this Mammoth of Siri integrated with ch GPT but I guess from a from a.
Security point of view is better but it seemed a bit drip feeding you this small thing that you've been dying to have for years so then you're in a so then when you listen to the second and third part of it you're more fascinated with what's gone on when it's a bit I don't know not so impressive just yet I don't know I've seen other people um started using iOS 18 and they're loving it but again they're quite Fanboy similar to me and I.
Think they just like finally we don't need a third party app to do XY Z but that's the thing I felt like I felt like it was Goliath stamping on these third party companies and destroying them because I noce even with the um m one the fact that you can push it to one side and it pushes it into whatever quarters or you can have um short shortcut keys to make sure it's let's say in quarters or halves or.
Whatever that I know that you tend to use more than me and you use a third party company to do that well they've just been squished like a bug which yeah I'd be so gutted if I was one of those companies that maybe built your finances resources on that to hopefully springboard you and then you sort of chopped off your at your knees to some extent but yeah what's your thoughts yeah I would go even more severe to be like the Apple event was.
Utterly disappointing and the reason why I can say that is because I've been using generative AI I've been using chat gbt it's like fully integrated into like loads of stuff that I do um so I use AI to help assist with efficiency like almost everywhere um so for me you're absolutely right they've just caught up to some of these stuff I personally feel like you know you can change your home screen colors like the reason why that never happened is.
Because you start making it kind of like ugly right so if somebody has like weird colors it makes it ugly then doesn't have this like brand consistency and I think to be honest Steve Jobs avoided that stuff because essentially he kind of felt that people don't make good decisions you should make good decisions for people kind of thing right so especially when it that tinting it's a clever concept but unless it matches a color on the wallpaper it.
Looks proper nap it looks proper cheesy if you got a kids's phone and one of the things that Android have always had is the ability to change the font to kind of like comic Sands type stuff or like kids or whatever so it has this like squiggly writing right and that's always looked whack so it's you've opened up yes I know people want this but I'm like it's a non thing like we would have been fine having the same stuff and I would.
Have I I wanted what I wanted with the AI stuff so firstly I thought it was great branding that AI now stands for apple intelligence so everybody searching AI will think Apple intelligence whereas AI is a concept that doesn't belong to anybody but Apple have essentially like own now kind of owns the concept of AI because of the association with the ai ai letters yeah so I thought that was great and I felt all the AI stuff I've seen it all before.
So I use MJ so I know how to generate images and I've used chat GPT so there was nothing extra special really when it comes to drawing out mathematical equations so they had an iPad app where they were drawing like four time three and then as soon as they write the equals um symbol it would automatically calculate the formula for you or the equation but for me I'm like cool that that's nice I mean that that felt like a nice kind of like.
Cool you know in a roller coaster where you're cranking up the the kind of like the to the top felt like cool was started to get somewhere but then it was just utterly disappointment disappointing you know when you get to the top in actually levels out for some reason I just had this vision of you know is it the shut up crime is the guy that throws um whatever it's like imagine if he jumps in and be like shut.
Up iPad and throws it because I didn't even need that feature anyway and just throws it across the room because yeah exactly they always have said they always have said that essentially the I let's say for argument sake the iPhone 10 was the first thing they came up with and then they were like right let's remove all the features and just drip feed the features to catch up to what we actually initially designed like years ago that that's always been the kind of.
Idea that apple have had this in their back pocket and been drip feeding stuff guess I guess the the element from AI I think it it sort of reh highlights that apple is for probably the main Market rather than the adventor and the people that are ahead of Technology really that if you are ahead of Technology you're more likely working for Apple or Google or whatever but then you're drip feeding the the main Market that might not be used in chat gbt so.
Will be being like this is the best thing ever I can change my yeah it would be very interesting the adoption would it mean that everyone's adopting AI because Apple has basically transformed everyone's phone but where it falls down is it's only everyone with a brand new laptop iPad iPhone whatever which I thought features have been released to 13 maybe 14 above that it would be strong enough to do the tech stuff at least and maybe not the imagery um so I sort of.
Surprised that they didn't yeah bring that all to Market but I guess it's for people that are intrigued into that they might not know tra GPT but they know apple and intrigued in the Apple marketing style because I'm sure more will be pumped until it gets launched and they'll be like oh I need that so they'll think they'll need need what a grand and a half phone rather than just subscribing or even getting free chap GPT to do the.
Bits that they might actually just need so I think the the adoption would be very interesting more probably the land would be more interesting than the actual pitch yeah they've brought it to the masses so kudos to them great but for those of us in the masses we essentially wanted something additional and I think it wouldn't have been too big of an ask for example there's this idea of AI agents right which is essentially you give a task to an agent and it does it.
For you and it returns back with the results and you can have many agents and you could have it that you pass a p like a task to One agent once that's completed the second agent takes it the third agent right like many bots of some sorts I think if Siri was essentially an AI agent you could be not only could you say hey could you book us a meeting for that event tomorrow and it contextually knows well in your calendar you have.
Event which is basically a gig in London therefore like you know it's not necessarily just about contextual information so I can speak in abstract senses but I would like it if it's was like Hey can you book us a a dinner like a dinner in this location and it could do it now Google has done that type of behavior before or that Apple could do phone calls on your behalf or or something like that to be much more like.
A a personal assistant um and much more intelligent rather than just like oh rewrite this email for me we're all doing that already so what's like the next level is essentially can you I think what the trouble is AI me you won't use the phone what I thought it could do is you know how you could record your voice so then your voice can be um for people that have lost well it's mainly towards people that have lost their their their voice that they.
Can still have it on a phone to type it out but you might be like hey Siri mimic my voice and break up with someone and then it was just like oh I've got a call and then you're like I break up with you and like a less robotic way I feel like where guys will just use AI sort of agent as just a a proxy like a admin assistant with your voice that will be pushed to the end degree which yeah I.
Think they'll be definitely funny memes coming from that but yeah I mean the funny thing is is when two AIS are basically speaking to each other which we've all seen those demos of chat PT chatting to each other right it would be that I say hey can you book me some like restaurant over there or or can you like cancel my phone contract basically on the other side we don't realize that the person answering the phone is also an AI.
Agent all the person answering at the phone compan is also an AI agent so I think that kind of like much more helpful but essentially it it pulls you away from using the phone so this is why I don't think they're going to fully integrate Siri as this like like massive capable like AI agent because it means you're going to use the phone less but I think I'm Pro that but Apple wouldn't be Pro that I think with Apple it's not.
Necessarily using your phone less because it'll always be like a brain in your pocket it is more than tapping into you'd wear your watch for your health and ideally I would say you'd have wireless headphones that you're constantly talking to Siri if Siri was the assistant so then you've always got your phone but I think Apple isn't as bothered about the retention of you staring at your phone because they don't get like that's more Netflix or you probably.
More YouTube and Tik Tok because of advertising but actually I think Apple don't care for the advertis because once you got the phone they've got their money so actually if you use it that much well they get extra money quite the they get extra money for you using the games because if they're taking a 30% cut of everything that you purchase through the App Store and also any in inapp purchases gu then they also benefit from you using the phone so they.
Don't want to pull you away from that because otherwise they'll wipe out essentially that 30% cut they they get but I would be like you just have games being like yes and no with I thought that was quite good though I must admit something minor but it's like do you answer the call and you're like no um I think it's someone that doesn't always like to be talking on my phone in front of in public out of the blue to catch.
People off I thought that was a very clever nod to probably for those you're listening Tom just shook his head left and right watch YouTube yeah I agreed I I I think finally like the point that you said that Apple just crushes the competition right they come in late they end up integrating a bunch of quote unquote Innovation from other people right but like passwords passwords like you said the screen sharing the stuff so the app for that is spectacle they've.
Obviously done stuff around whoop you know the um durab uh the endurance stuff with the fit so I'm like will they like even PayPal right so now that you can do essentially like touch to pay somebody um touch phones of course um then essentially PayPal's share price started to plummet so if Apple are good enough to bring down PayPal's share price with bringing out features in the same way that they brought down Intel's share price by saying that they were doing app.
Apple silicon then like you've just got to keep on innovating right so long as you keep on innovating and not worry too much about the competition you can still exist so that that's all it comes down to but I agree and then instant reaction like visceral reaction it'd be like KY maybe tomorrow a bunch of people are going to cancel like one password and the last pass because everybody's moving over to Apple so what can you bring what.
Can you innovate on but so yeah that's that's the trouble with like like size okay you weren't impressed by it what was was that anything you like even if it was Tiny that you're like actually that was interesting it's showing they didn't do more of or was it literally like nothing stood out for me I think the whole iPad drawing maths stuff was very clever however the trouble with that is like what happens if you just want to work it out for.
Yourself right and you don't want Apple to intervene so you might be like drawing something and like planning something and then it's intervening with like answering the questions so then essentially you like eliminate your ability to to do because you don't care anymore cuz what I noticed watching it this morning with a fresher brain it looked like the note was in the calculator so it's a separate note but then they started writing notes and it was editing the notes into like pasting.
This word or do this or do that so I'm there going I wonder if there is a trigger or unless it's just a tab that you have to be in that tab to do the maass I don't think that was particularly clear of I think it was like a different tab for the like the math workout stuff but I agree because they were doing notes and stuff like what was cool is if you have a particular handwriting and then you want.
It to like finish it in the same handwriting was able to do that so that that's kind of like nice and gimmicky but yeah I definitely wanted something more like AI agent level yeah cuz the only two things that stood out for me was the fact that you could nod yes and no I don't know why but that that was um small but useful but actually being able to allow someone to take control of your iPad so basic but there's always someone.
There normally elderly people I've noticed tend to have an iPad and a phone rather than a laptop or whatever and you can't actually take control of an iPad which is really frustrating and sometimes they don't always know how to screen share or they can screen share but then don't know what you're talking about it's just the fact that you could doodle on it is like again it's something so basic that could have been launched right at the start or like at.
Least five years ago or whatever and it's a shame that's like i' would love to know how they a what list do they have of everything that they're thinking out and then B how do they prioritize it going oh yeah the calcul we're going to push that this year and to make it look like we deliberately held back we'll add this like doodling Mass element when you're there going I don't think anyone really cared about that doodling mask to.
To my knowledge because now you're selling an iPad and a really expensive pencil which is like I don't think people cared about doodling it on but I don't know it's sort of your creating a problem and a solution at the same time and a problem that wasn't even there uh agreed yeah I agree I I um no doubt they have a bunch of user user researchers and stuff asking people for this it's just people behind the App Store going.
Oh this app's doing really well for five years right let's uh crush this well Amazon's been known to do that so it's it's probably likely that Apple would do the same you know like Amazon will have like um somebody's creating a really good bag and then all of a sudden there's an Amazon's basic version of the same bag so it's I wouldn't put it past them because they have this like data essentially what's great about Apple is for them is they own an ecosystem so of.
Course they can do whatever they want within that ecosystem to benefit themselves and this is why it's better to always have like a product or an idea that potentially could be in its own ecosystem rather than having to rely on other things but you have to rely on other things to begin with to get the volume and the scale and over time you separate question the bit about that you can mirror your iPhone to your laptop a I'm.
Pretty sure they said that last year never actually brought it out properly or must have been a very light version B what was your thoughts on that cuz I thought that was a bit random that I'm like I never really think oh yeah I wish I could do stuff off my phone on the laptop I guess it makes you not go off your laptop but what was your thought initial thoughts of all that side of so future two thoughts one I think it's.
Great for app development because I want to use my own phone and I have to like plug it in to be able to see it or like you can do it through Wi-Fi but if that's like just Slicker like more smoother more integrated then it will just perform it'll be more performant so that that behavior does exist but it'll be more performant which I'll find useful the second thing is you know when you have like a two-factor authentication and not it's not that.
They send you a text but they ask for you to input a code that you have to get from your authentication app then that would be easy because I'm like okay cool where's my phone now now randomly I happen to be using my phone as a camera so could I now see my phone be able to open the authentication app copy the six-digit code and paste it into the web page that I'm looking at that would be useful because otherwise I I have to.
Copy now I still can copy across devices so when I copy on my iPhone I can paste it on my Mac which is one of the best features I use that all the time but yeah I would say it's the authentication approach proba though it'll be like that is really useful but then when you try and look at your screen it'll have like it will just block it off to be like you're using it as a webcam you can't use it for.
Anything else yeah which it it in five years time when you're desperate and in need of that that nice drink of water exactly they they know roughly when people are buying phones and stuff don't they because of like just purchasing Cycles cuz I'm they've got enough data on that that people buy every two years so if you know you've got data from like two years ago you'll be like cool they're coming up to making a decision again so maybe we should.
Bring out the phone probably that kind of stuff yeah I thought overall VR headset coming to the UK thoughts I think the fact that it was going to China is more interesting because Chinese the Chinese market would be huge and um I think that would be interesting but I'm not I'm not that into the headset because it just you can't you can't have it on your face for that long I have an Oculus um we're not going to have as a podcast both of us on.
The on yeah I don't think so just yet but I I do notice that they've realized that people are wearing them on airplanes and trains and stuff to do work which is true but will that be the future for everything maybe maybe not I don't know it' be a great thing if you are fearful of flying you could just like transform it to be like oh I'm just in a field and I'm actually on the ground therefore they won't have vertigo.
Or whatever I thought it was more interesting the fact that I think an air I don't know which airline but an airline were going to buy them so you can use them there I guess as a guest I'd find that more in a weird way more useful that sometimes you do an experience and you can use that rather than that sounds like virgin virgin Airlines um Probably sounds like that virgin virgin Atlantic I've got it and just carrying it everywhere because.
Obviously you might get blamed for there's not in your laptop bag you need to pay for an extra b or what like all the little mini Fu stuff that you don't know and there might not be rules because it's not a computer but it's not a phone it's in between rather than yeah Mak sense I would probably only use it on an airpod so just have them in airpods or whatever it's like an extra aged purchase but yeah oh I came in hot on that topic yeah.
Going on from um like obviously what we ched about last week which is the the siden stuff yeah creating their inside um reality TV show I've now upgraded my Twitter so I have access to their AI which is called Gro and and you can ask it opinions because it's all it's programmatically kind of like informed with like real-time tweets so you can ask it opinions so I found what was helpful is like hey what are people saying about.
Inside and it was able to say hey so people like generally like it but they have some improvements so one is like they should have had an actual host rather than than using the characters of the siden not characters sorry like the members of siden as the hosts like another one is like oh it was a bit boring that it came to the end and they split the money it could have been more interesting with not them voting out but.
Other people voting out right like public voting app but of course it's difficult because they don't do it live so I thought that was cool but tagging on to that I didn't realize that foot Asylum have you have you heard of foot Asylum yeah so foot Asylum for those who don't know is essentially a kind of like a very similar to like JD sport or like um what's the other one with the black and white stripes the sh the football.
Shop Shoe Shop yeah yeah that's one thanks so I they are for but also I think they do clothing right I assume so so they had a very similar setup and now these guys fym are on season 4 similar setup of having a bunch of creators that they bring into the house but all the creators are wearing kind of I assume fory stuff but it's not clear what I thought was great with Sidman stuff everybody in the house is wearing sidan.
Clothing and it's all like blanket everybody's the same and I thought it was good um like cross promotion um to some to some degree and the fact that they were cross-promoting their side plus TV show I think I think sorry TV platform like YouTube platform interesting as well is just the creators that they picked like picking someone from uh Made in Chelsea brings in a different um feel to it rather than just a bunch of YouTubers I think go in that.
Cross-pollinating style obviously not fully to lose you your group of people that do want to watch it but just pull from different people I thought it was really interesting as well yeah I also found what I would like to known is for those people that knew nobody when they joined who did they follow afterwards now for me angry Ginge was like like this guy I'm going to follow him because I I knew of him but I didn't follow him so I'm.
Like I wonder who's had the highest bump in social interactions off the back of it when you've come in and there's like you've not been known or a particular group of people don't know you so I thought that was really interesting you should ask Gro or whatever is it Gro my name is yeah gr but tying on to that I I in inside YouTube there is an analytics like part to your YouTube channel they have something called like a tab called.
Inspiration yeah if you tap on the inspiration tab you can search for topics so you can put in Mr Beast you can put in sidan and so forth not only does it give you what people are watching on that topic so most popular videos right now on that topic so be like these three videos are being watched underneath the siden theme or category it also can give you content ideas so if you click on like it doesn't always show show it to you but it shows.
You like uh the things that people are searching right that are aligned to that topic and also the content gaps so then you can basically find something that potentially the the siden are not speaking about that the siden community would like yeah so if you're dry on on Facebook sorry YouTube ideas going to that hidden like inspiration tab where it shows you not only what people are searching for but the content gaps I thought that was special so I never.
Noticed that they had content gaps inside and this ties in with um something I said on my live stream around Google Trends Google Trends is a site that you can see real time searches and again if you did like if you wanted to start a Twitter account or if you wanted to start live streaming you could use some of those topics that turn up in the trending kind of like thread to speak about especially if it was relevant to what you were interested in.
So um that's a really good like thing but not only can you do web searches but you can do YouTube searches anyway so you can see that data for different countries and so forth so in the UK at the time lots of people were searching for siden inside that was the thing that was po popular last week yeah um as well as like M&M's music video and the rest so it can give you like realtime content because all kind of like um real time.
Info and content ideas to then put into your content which hopefully would get you indexed a bit higher that is really interesting I guess it's quite it's sort of useful because it's real time and real life but they're not useful if everyone collabed to say a certain topic then it will skew it quite easily with a community I guess yeah which moves us on to our next chat isn't it yeah so Tom and I have tiet and upon ourselves to.
Apply some accountability into our next step so we've been doing don't be a d up for 50 plus episodes now three years worth of content which is kind of cool I'm really pleased that we've done that we've both um are going to carry on doing this so there's no change in this one I think as you'll see our content is getting a bit better we've done a lot of production changes you know things have been improving we've also experimented a ton.
With Arrangements languages and all the rest of it what we both want to do is start our own channels so Tom started his channel and Jonah share a bit about what what you how you see that coming together yeah I I wanted to do more content don't know what topic or how to perfect but I remember hearing um it was two guys in Mr Beast and I I should promote them but I can't remember what they were called it's basically two like.
Storytellers and Mr Beast and he basically said loads of people want to be YouTubers but what you should do is create 100 videos and then talk to me and his point being is the first five will be probably rubbish and then you'll learn from those five of is the audio b or the lighting bad or the thumbnail and then you'll learn and then obviously the next 10 looking back of them will probably be really bad and then you'll.
Slowly improve them by the 100 a you would have learned a lot of skills along the way but then You' know your craft and understand it and what you're good at and what you're not so good at and all that side so I think my I guess it's more documenting the Journey of just creating a hundred videos of seeing where that comes from it might be just learning how to do good shots or camera work or whatever and it might be just a.
A training ground for me to practice different stuff and then move on to don't be a door stop or I might get into certain topics that are on my on my heart that I'd like to share or just maybe day-to-day routines I'm not entirely sure but I thought I'd just do the goal on executing a 100 whatever that looks like if it's within days weeks months or years I'm not sure uh hopefully not years because I'm not sure.
If I can make 132 but we'll see hey be optimistic I got my Apple watch to keep me alive but well I get bumped off the next one so maybe I don't so uh um we'll see but yeah that's that's a bit about mine do you want to go ahead and talk about your one yeah so for me um I kind of did a bit in the Preamble but as you see we're also still perfecting stuff because we.
Have um bad audio and choppy video and stuff so even at 50 episodes in there'll still be things going wrong but for me the skill of talking straight to a camera is a unique one that I don't think many people have experienced as in direct down to a lens when there is nobody there it's a different skill especially when you're talking to yourself again with streaming it is again a different skill because there's no takes there's no Cuts there's no you.
Know distractions so how do you do it in one flow it doesn't mean you have to speak all the time but yeah so I'm I'm doing a little bit of live streaming solo videos and the reason is is I did start building a community of like um way way back or like content to start building a community around building a six figer business right now I have a multi6 fig business which is awesome and I want to just throw down the ladder so.
If somebody's in a 9 to5 and they're f it really kind of frustrating that they're building their boss's dream rather than their own dream I want to give that opportunity of that like 5% of motivation that you require to either quit that job or to start that side business or to do that side hustle and then build it up to a way that you can quit that job essentially putting people in the places so we've talked about being a doorstop and we want to avoid.
Being a doorstop to being a hammer so cool how do you now be the hammer so it's essentially the hammer part of the doorstop Journey um so yeah it's Ryland sixf figure Academy where it's all about building businesses it can be a variation of businesses I was wondering about making it as a specific like digital agency um ux agency design agency design studio and that stuff but I'd quite like to keep it broad right now and see what happens so there'll be.
A a link in the description to join the community to join the agent the academy sorry and um I'm hoping that we'll all be able to share with each other because as you see like the best thing is that we've never stopped learning and I'm always wanting to continue that uh learning process um so yeah I would love for you to join it's free right now it's going to um it's going to cost at some point but right now it's free and if you.
Get in at free it's going to stay free so join now because then you won't have to pay and then Indiana Jones where the doors close where a couple of people slide underneath and rolling rock is coming after you yeah definitely and I think building a community is another skill set that I'd like to try a lot of these things that we do are kind of like outward facing so building something where you have that interaction um like.
We you and I have done coaching calls and stuff and having that like oneto one or or group um being able to see somebody further things along like one of my friends um he wanted to start YouTube videos and explain things in really simple terms and simple kind of like Concepts to people um and he has a YouTube channel now I was like cool like when's your first video coming out he's not done his first video yet but I.
Spotted that he followed me subscribe to my channel and I'm like oh this is really exciting you have the channel and it's named the correct name you don't have any videos yet but like you like that's one step of many steps like to build a wall heck you need the first Breck don't you so I'm like oh that was really exciting to see so I think I buzz off other people pushing themselves and getting out there because I'm trying to.
Do that for myself so uh why not have a bit of company um along the way so that's my community one oh is that a r or is that any other I can't remember I think that is rep one thing I would just say is if you haven't um subscribed to don't be the doorstep please do you it'd be also great if you can like the video because that always helps getting ourself out there for um a little bit.
More and if you haven't yet subscribed to Tom's Channel go over and subscribe to him and also my channel and if you want to go into the um if you want to push yourself and get into the sixf figure Academy while it's free uh there'll also be a link in the description for you and that's it so as always keep hammering those Nails bye for now [Music].
